WHY DON’T YOU STUDY HERE?

For freshmen and even existing students, finding a good place to study on campus can be a problem. Don’t worry! This article will save you the trouble. The Group 2 reporters have made it easy for you by investigating all the alternative study places and talking to experienced Ewha students.

ECC!

Ewha girls often say that the ECC is one of the most beautiful structures at Ewha Womans University. The building also contains several study places.
There are many nice reading rooms where students can study. At B2, there is Free Reading Room 1 (자유 열람실 1). It is connected to Free Reading Room 2 (자유 열람실 2) on B3 by stairs. Free Reading Room 1 contains beautiful lamps but unfortunately, Free Reading Room 2 doesn’t. On B3, there is also the Sinhan Reading Room, which has lamps and an area where students can use their laptop computers.
There are also lots of places where students can study in a more relaxed way. First, there are sofas and tables at the end of the corridors. Second, there are big stairs at the end of the ECC where students can spend their time.

The Central Library.

The Central Library has reading rooms on the first and basement floors. As the central library is so big, there are lots of reading rooms in the Central Library.
The laptop room, PC room, and free reading rooms 3&4 are located on the first floor. We can borrow an internet wire at the entrance place, and use it in laptop computers while studying in the laptop room. But don’t forget to return it after using the wire or, you will be charged a 500 won late fee. The free reading room 4 has partition walls between seats, so this place is helpful to concentrate on your own study. But free reading room 3 is located beside the PC room, which is open place. It could be distracting, but some students prefer that place because it is not stuffy.
At the basement level, there is free reading room 1 and a reading room for post graduate course students. The free reading room 1 is the biggest reading room in the Central Library. It has about 490 seats arranged with tables and chairs (i.e. no partitions). However, the atmosphere here is a little distracting because it is not absolutely silent. One advantage is that there is an icoop. The icoop is located on the same level. We can buy snacks and delicious coffee at a cheap price in the icoop. So when we become tired or hungry after long periods of study, we can recharge our energy at this place. Isn’t it cool? Let’s study at this place!

Posco building

The reading room is located on the 6th floor in this place. If you feel the Central Library is too far from your study place, or Hakgwan is too cold to study, why don’t you come to Posco? The Posco building is located closer to the front gate and back gate compared to Central Library. Sometimes Posco’s elevator is too crowded, but it doesn’t take as much time as it does to go to the Central Library. Also, in the Posco basement, there is Ewha Sarang cafe, which sells kimbabs and coffee, so we can take a rest if we feel tired after long periods of studying.

Hakgwan.

Frankly speaking, We don’t recommend the Hakgwan reading room. Students who major in the College of Liberal Arts usually study in this place. The Hakgwan is cold to study, and has many rumors: a ghost lives there, and there is a white dragon under the Hakgwan. However, if you want to study in a spooky mood, go and study at the Hakgwan ( just kidding.)

So, if you want to find places to study during your exams, find the spaces that we have suggested. The ECC is the best place for variety with its great number of choices. It is also conveniently located near the front gate. The Posco building provides a warm atmosphere and closeness to a restaurant. The Hakgwan is quite noisy and not recommended, unless you are a Humanities student. Depending on your needs, you should choose the right place for you.
